7 Marketing Tips When Organic Strategies Are Moving Slowly (No BS, Just Aha’s)

August 06, 20247 min read

Let's get REAL for a HOT MINUTE.

We've all been there, staring at our analytics, wondering why our killer content isn't organically turning into cold, hard cash.

Well, grab your beverage of choice (I won't judge if it's always coffee o'clock), because I'm about to spill some serious java on marketing secrets that actually work when organic is moving slower than we’d like.

These aren't your average tips – they're hidden gems I've uncovered through years of trial, error, and maybe a few existential crises.

Become a Master Storyteller

Forget “Once Upon a Time” – we’re not writing fairy tales here. But your brand needs a story that grabs more attention than your favorite beat drop.

Weave your brand’s story into everything you do. Share what makes your brand tick, what gets you fired up, and why you started in the first place. When you master this art, you’ll create a magical connection with your audience that goes way beyond a simple sale. People don’t just buy products; they buy the emotions and values your story conveys.

For instance, instead of saying you sell handmade candles, share the story of how each candle is crafted with love, perhaps inspired by your grandmother’s kitchen or the soothing sunsets of your hometown. When your audience feels your passion and sees the authentic story behind your brand, they’re more likely to connect deeply and become loyal customers.

The Super Fans

Every brand needs its ride-or-dies, the Beyhive to your Beyoncé.

Identify them, nurture them, and for the love of all things holy, appreciate them. These are the people who go above and beyond to support your brand. They comment on every post, share your content, and maybe even tell their friends about you.

Give them insider access, make them feel special, and involve them in your journey. Maybe it’s early access to new products, exclusive behind-the-scenes content, or just a heartfelt thank-you note.

These passionate few can turn your ordinary marketing into pure gold. They’re not just customers; they’re your secret weapon in a world of scrolling thumbs.

When your super fans are happy, they become ambassadors who spread the word organically.

The Transformation Talisman

This one’s crucial: you’re not selling a product or service – you’re selling a transformation.

Nobody buys a gym membership because they want to sweat; they buy the promise of feeling confident AF in their favourite jeans.

What’s your transformation? Focus on the profound change you’re offering. This shift in perspective will boost your perceived value.

Let’s take another example: if you’re selling a course on social media marketing, don’t just list the modules and lessons. Emphasize how this course will transform your customers’ businesses, giving them the skills to attract more clients and grow their revenue. Show them the end result, the lifestyle change, and the confidence they’ll gain.

When people see the transformation you’re offering, they’ll be more eager to buy.

Get Vulnerable

We’ve all messed up. Heck, I once sent an email blast with a typo in the subject line to 10,000 people. 🤦‍♀️

But – sharing these oops moments creates a magnetic vortex that pulls people in.

In a world of Instagram-perfect feeds, real vulnerability is refreshing. It makes you human, which is what your audience is looking for. They want to see the real, messy, behind-the-scenes stuff because it’s relatable.

Share your mistakes and the lessons you learned from them. Did a product launch flop? Talk about what went wrong and how you’re fixing it. Did a campaign not resonate? Share your thoughts on why and what you’ll do differently next time. This kind of transparency builds trust and loyalty because your audience sees that you’re genuine and constantly striving to improve.

The Content Ecosystem Magic

Think of your content like a game of Tetris – every piece should fit together.

Blog posts, social media, emails – they should all connect and support each other. This isn’t just about putting out random content; it’s about creating an ecosystem that guides your audience on a journey.

When you nail this, your content becomes greater than the sum of its parts. For example, a blog post can lead to a related YouTube video, which you promote through your email newsletter, and snippets of which you share on social media.

This interconnected approach keeps your audience engaged across multiple platforms and reinforces your message.

Let’s say you’re launching a new product. Your ecosystem might include a series of teaser posts on social media, a behind-the-scenes blog post, an email announcing the launch, and a video tutorial on how to use the product.

Each piece of content should reference and support the others, creating a cohesive narrative that draws your audience in.

The Whisper Listener Technique

Time to channel your inner FBI Agent and get your stalk hat on (in a totally non-creepy way, of course).

The real problems aren’t in what people are shouting – it’s in what they’re whispering.

Listen to what your audience is saying, read between the lines. What are they complaining about? What makes them do a happy dance? This intel is pure gold for your marketing strategy, and most people don’t do this.

Use social listening tools to monitor mentions of your brand, products, and industry. Dive into forums, Facebook groups, and the comments sections to see what your audience is really talking about.

Are they frustrated with a common problem? Do they wish there was a product that solved a specific need? These insights can help you refine your offerings and create content that truly resonates.

For instance, if you notice a lot of your customers struggling with time management, you might create a blog series or a webinar on productivity hacks.

Become the "Broken Record" (In a Good Way)

Ever had a song stuck in your head all day? That’s what we’re aiming for with your marketing message.

Use the “Rule of 7” – make sure your audience encounters your message at least seven times.

It’s not being annoying; it’s creating a familiar echo that sticks in their minds. Repetition isn’t just the key – it’s the whole dang locksmith.

To apply this, ensure your core message is consistent across all your marketing channels.

Whether it’s a social media post, an email, a blog article, or a video, your audience should encounter the same key points and values. This repetition helps reinforce your message and makes it more memorable.

For example, if your key message is about the transformative power of your product, make sure this theme appears in your social media updates, email newsletters, blog posts, and even in your customer interactions.

The more your audience hears it, the more likely they are to remember it and associate it with your brand.

There you go!

These aren't your grandma's tips (sorry, Nanny), and they're definitely not what the gurus are peddling on every webinar.

They're real, they're powerful, and they work. Now go forth and weave this marketing magic into your business! :)
